President’s Report: Mark Greenstein

 

1.        Pharmacy Week is next week (Oct. 22-27, 2003).

2.        We will try to do a project in the spring or next fall, possibly attached to a health fair.

3.        Last month’s CE forms have not been sent in yet.

1.        We currently have 89 active/active pledge/joint members and 6 retirees.  There are 10 member non-renewals and 2 associate non-renewals. 

2.        Dan will send letters to non-renewals.

 

 

Legislative Report:  Marv Knoeck

1.        Pharmacy Day in Albany will be Tuesday, March 23, 2004.

2.        It was suggested that we invite the local legislators to one of our meetings.

 

 

Program Chair: Charlotte Granville, Mark Greenstein

1.       November 2003:  Hawthorne’s (location change), Dave Webster speaking on Point of Care, McKesson may sponsor.

2.       December 2003:  Alaris may sponsor a program on pumps.  Lorraine’s is under consideration.

3.       January 2004:  Aventis approached Mark about doing a program on antibiotics (gram positive infections).  It is prepackaged – they would provide 1.5 hours of CE.

4.       Remaining meetings open.  Louise Bartells from Schering has agreed to sponsor a meeting. February?  Other suggestions include a program on Hep C by Roche, an ED topic, Jeanette Altavella, Jake McCarty from the Bureau of Controlled Substances and Jack Kitrinos.

NYSCHP Liaison Report:  Wendy Colin

1.        Dues Reimbursement:  it’s at 50% of the usual rate ($10/active member and $5/techand other members).  The amount we received may have just been for the June renewals.

2.        ASHP is extending the poster session deadline to 11-15-03 for poster on how practices were affected by the blackout and Hurricane Isabel as well as Interdisciplinary Models of Practice.

3.        Pharmacist of the Year and Pharmacist Achievement nominations need to be in by the beginning of the year.

4.        Kumar Maharaj has received an ASHP Best Practice Award!
