President’s Report: Mark Greenstein

 

1.        We would like to get Danio to the Annual this year.  Ideas to facilitate this include a bake sale or a poster with financial assistance from SMH.

2.        The October CE is coming, it’s stuck at the office.  September forms were sent in with December’s forms.

3.        Tonight’s CE program was revised and is now only for 1.0 hours.

4.        Phase 2 of the dues increase goes into effect:  $150 for active members, $80 for joint membership.  First year pledge is $50, second year is $95.  Supporting members $150.

5.        Our Delegates to the Annual are Fred Savageau, Tom Curtis, Mark Greenstein and Marv Knoeck.

3.  Make an announcement at tonight’s meeting.

1.       February 2004:  Jeanette Altavella  to speak on palliative care.  Red Fedele’s Brook House in Greece.  Charlotte has an application in to Purdue-fredrick for sponsor money.

2.       March 2004:  SKB to sponsor at Rick’s Prime Rib House on Buffalo Road. Sabine will speak on Beta-blockers in heart failure.

3.       April 2004: Pfizer sponsoring. Woodcliff.  Jane Sunberg is scheduled.  Psych topic.

4.       May 2004: Peggy Judge from NYS OPD and Jake McCarty from Bureau of Controlled Substances.  Location to be determined.  Need a sponsor.  Abbott or Roche?

5.       June 2004:Dan Hayes on Emergency Medicine?

6.       Amgen and Bayer for next fall.

7.       Dave Parker from Roche may sponsor next fall.  Topics could include Hep C or antibiotics in peds.

NYSCHP Liaison Report:  Wendy Colin

1.        Due increase in effect 1-1-04.

2.        Leadership Development Conference is in 3 weeks.  Mark, Fred and Tom O’Brien are attending.

3.        Nominations for Pharmacist of the Year and Pharmacist Achievement Awards still open.

4.        Position statements have been renumbered – on the website.  We can still submit material for the House.

5.        The BOD is looking at the budget, where money is going, short- and long- term goals and the mission statement.

6.        BOD also discussing increasing attendance at the Mid-Year Clinical Meeting.  Weekends vs. weekdays.  Host chapter could sponsor a fun activity (separate from the meeting).
